History

The Montserrat Foundation was established by a group of citizens of the United States of America. Public-spirited persons from the Montserrat community were recruited as members. As some of the US members changed their expatriate status, due mainly to aging, the organization is managed predominantly by Montserratians. The last President of the Foundation was D. R. V. (Frank) Edwards OBE OE who was a member from the inception up until 2016, when the current President, Chivone Gerald was elected.

This included providing grants to the Montserrat Red Cross, the Montserrat National Trust, the new Golden Years Home for the Elderly, schools and churches, and helping to equip emergency shelters for refugees.
